Recipe #23: Spicy Mac n Cheese with Yellowbird Sauce

Published by Monique on

I love trying out new mac n cheese recipes and this one is a new favourite! I incorporated Yellowbird’s Serrano Sauce for some extra oomph and I think y’all are gonna LOVE it!

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp Yellowbird’s Serrano Sauce
  • 16 oz orecchiette noodles
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded colby jack cheese
  • 1 cup shredded white cheddar cheese
  • 1 /4 cup diced hatch green chiles
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • a pinch of salt and pepper
  • roasted broccoli to top (optional)

Directions:

  1. Bring a large pot of water to boil. Cook noodles according to package. Drain and set aside,
  2. Grab a saucepan and put on low heat. Add butter and allow to melt. Slowly whisk in flour until fully incorporated. Slowly add milk until fully incorporated. Whisk the mixture until it is smooth.
  3. Add the cheese and stir well. Add Yellowbird’s Serrano Sauce, hatch green chiles, garlic powder, paprika, chili powder, salt and pepper. Once completely melted, take off heat.
  4. Add the sauce to the noodles and gently stir until all the noodles are coated in the cheese sauce. Add more Yellowbird Sauce as you please! I usually keep it on the table and add more as I eat 😉

Yellowbird makes everything from scratch with real ingredients without added preservatives right here in Austin, TX. They have Jalapeno, Serrano, Blue Agave Sriracha, Habanero and Ghost Pepper sauces. I love ALL of them, and they can literally go on anything. I hope you enjoy my recipe and create your own recipe with Yellowbird!
