Restaurant Review: Fukumoto [Part II]
Alright you guys, I hope you enjoyed part I of my Fukumoto review. I will no longer leave you waiting on the edge of your seats about the second part of my Fukumoto experience. In a nutshell,
IT WAS AMAZING.
We ordered a tuna and mackerel sushi (nigiri style) and the tuna was ON POINT, however the mackerel was a little too “fishy” for my liking. Luckily, Joel fancied the fishiness. (Did I also mention they have the best soy sauce I’ve ever had? Because they do. I don’t know what they put in it, but it is the most perfect soy sauce).
The sushi rolls we ordered came to us with grandeur: they were both daily specials and were D I V I N E. Honestly the best sushi rolls I have EVER had! The first was a salmon and pear roll with an incredible creamy sauce. The other was a yellowtail and cucumber roll with fresh sprouts on top. YUMM-O.
Then came the greatest creation of all.. the takoyaki style corn dogs created by Chef Sean. An amazing concoction that is common in Japanese festivals, filled with meat and covered in sprouts and sauces and perfection. The fried corn dogs were quite fried, but I happily devoured them. If you want to try something new this week, LET IT BE THESE.
I am headed back to Fukumoto this week for a happy hour because I miss it so much, but also because it was quite pricey … I will say it was worth it, but not a place you can dine at often. As a thrifty and budgeted gal, that was the biggest downside. However the freshness, high quality, and amazing concoctions that Fukumoto and his team created are some of the best.
