Restaurant Review: Valentina’s Tex Mex BBQ
Just another BBQ spot, right? WRONG! Valentina’s is included in the Austin Monthly’s Top 50 BBQ Joints for a good reason – they make damn good cue. The drive out to Manchaca wasn’t as bad as I thought it’d be (granted, I35 was particularly nice that day). The large trailer and shaded patio is inviting (as well as the large umbrellas available for customers who need extra shade).
Let’s talk about their queso.
It’s insanely delicious and might be the best, most flavorful I’ve ever had. I know that’s a heavy statement to make, but the blend of cheeses and salsas makes it incredibly unique and just damn amazing.
The pulled chicken sandwich includes incredibly tender, melt-in-your-mouth chicken, tangy slaw, sea salt lime guacamole, and mesquite smoked bbq sauce. Their potato salad is also remarkably zesty and flavorful without overdoing it on the mayonnaise.
We ordered a pound of brisket which came with pickles and freshly made flour tortillas. The brisket broke apart and melted in the best way possible. It’s hard to describe – it’s best to just try it for yourself.
