Brunch at Trace in the W Hotel
Like most Austinites, I loooove a good brunch. Trace at the W Hotel has an extraordinary brunch (and it won’t break the bank like you might think). I had such an amazing experience and I want ALL of you to go try it!
We ordered the fried quail and grits – this dish is spicy and zesty! Cheesy gouda grits come with crispy fried quail legs and house made hot sauce and giardiniera. It’s phenomenal (and filling).
The lox sandwich was my absolute FAVOURITE thing I ate. It comes with a huge everything-seasoned challah bun loaded with smoked salmon spread, arugula, tomato, smoked charred roe, and a fried egg + a lemony green side salad. It was everything I wanted in a large breakfast sandwich! Pro tip: it’s perfect with an aperol spritz.
Joel ordered the El Gordo and although it sounds and looks amazing, it was hard to eat. The sandwich fell apart and the combination was extra salty. But we loved the thick cut maple bacon and those fresh fluffy fries! However he loved his drink – the Ghost Fire – TX Whiskey house infused with vanilla and espresso, rumchata, cold brew, cream and a chocolate rim. It’s like a delicious adult chocolate milk!
The presentation on the donut holes is fabulous but they taste even better! Coated in sugar + paired with three house made sauce: caramel, chocolate, and raspberry jam. YUMM-O.
PS You can get a large mimosa carafe for only $10 or order it by the glass for $2! Walk on over to the W lounge after brunch and sip on some delicious drinks – if you go, let me know what you think!
