Where to Eat – Spring 2019
There are just TOO many wonderful places to in Austin to NOT make a guide for Spring time eating! This is the best weather we’re going to have all year and the best way to celebrate it is with great food and drinks.
Whether you’re in the beautiful lounge or patio, you’ll love their spring time foods like the loaded queso, noodle salad or upside down pineapple bread pudding. Their tiki drinks are super strong and tasty, too!
You’ll be lucky if you grab a seat during the Cherry Blossom Installation. Definitely order whatever is on special – they only source sustainable fish so you’ll be doing a favor to the environment, too.
They have a new patio that is perfect for spring weather AND are serving brunch – I highly recommend the duck confit crepe and a glass of rosé.
With a downtown location and one at The Domain, you can have your pick of where to dine (although The Domain doesn’t have a patio). I loooove their pad thai with shrimp and basically everything else on the menu.
For something fresh, fun and quick you can build your own takeout – they even have zucchini noodles!
Dare I say, this is my favourite poke place in town. It’s gourmet, incredibly fresh, intentionally made poke with thousands of combination options!
I could eat here at least once a week if I could. Not only is their HH one of the best in town but their food is authentic, unique and consistently delicious even if they’re slammed on a Friday night. The veggie queso fundido and pibil tlacoyos are some of my faves. And you can’t beat a well made $5 paloma during happy hour!
Noodles and dumplings are perfect for any time of the year – their spicy ramen and lemongrass dumplings are my fave!
With incredible seafood and an array of delicious sandwiches, you’ll find something you’ll love (for me, it’s the oysters and crab legs). They also have 30 different draft beers and cocktails (I love the cucumber gimlet). PS they have $10 lunch deals and $5 happy hour deals that are so amazing, you need to try it for yourself!
This Austin gem has been in town for decades and for good reason – they make delicious, from scratch food for crowds on the daily. Their hippie chick sandwich on gluten free bread is a dream!
Rooftop patio and amazing bbq. What more could you want?! The brisket tots are something you don’t want to miss. The Farewell to Arms is my fave cocktail made with rum, grapefruit juice and lime.
This Filipino food truck is bringing authentic dishes and flavors. I’ve never been a fan of jack fruit until I had their fried rice!
Caroline + Upstairs at Caroline
Whether you’re dining downstairs at Caroline or Upstairs on their fun patio, there’s always something delicious to have! I love the salmon and cauliflower pilaf, beet carpaccio, and apple spritz at Caroline and the brisket tacos, ceviche, and la limonada cocktail Upstairs!
Two locations, both with big patios, and amaaaazing eats (the lucy tacos are made with lemongrass pork and will change your life). The East Cesar location is going to have a “grab n go” fridge where you can stop by quickly to get your lunch fix (plus free beer on Fridays)!
This has been a consistent in my list of favourites. Their house made masa comes to life in their tortillas, sauces and other dishes. For brunch, my faves are the pork y huevo and meyer lemon curd stuffed donut. For dinner, you have to get the goat barbacoa beet tostada.
Keep things light with their salmon naan wraps and side salad or indulge in their huge pork schnitzel! They have games and a huge patio for sippin brews and watching sports.
This quaint dive bar on East Webberville has incredibly good food – the cajun wings and shrimp n grits are must haves.
We all know and love Kerbey, and their new Mueller location is so beautiful! Their mimosa carafes are only $15 and it pairs well with their cowboy queso, Greek lamb burger, and perfect migas.
