Phenomenal French Food in Austin, Texas

Let me tell you about some truly incredible traditional French cooking in Austin, Texas 🇫🇷

I’vee had my eye on 1417 for awhile and i finally dined – and it didn’t disappoint.

The space is absolutely stunning, cozy, sophisticated and welcoming. I can’t believe what they did with this former-Sway spot!

The food was soooo delightful. It’s really quite hard to execute traditional French techniques and I felt they did it perfectly with the duck confit, roasted chicken, and escargot.

What we ordered:
– east coast oysters with mignonette
– escargot in puff pastry
– steak tartare with crostini
– duck comfort with brussels and whipped parsnips
– roasted chicken with mashed potatoes
– macaroni and cheese
– sauv blanc, cabernet franc and merlot wines

This is the perfect spot for a date night or to celebrate a birthday or anniversary, or to visit during their incredible HH or Monday night steak frite special! They also serve brunch on the weekends.

It’s so hard to choose a favorite from the night, but I think I would order that roasted chicken again without hesitation.

Thanks to their team for hosting me – I will absolutely be back for some of the best french cooking I’ve had in town! And PLEASE get this luscious mac n cheese when you visit!!
