The Funkadelic – New (Amazing) Brunch Spot on S Lamar

Published by Monique on

The Funkadelic is a super fabulous new (ALL DAY) brunch spot on South Lamar and I can see this place becoming a town favourite very soon. With all local and fresh ingredients (produce from JBG and 44 Farms) you can order with extra confidence! The only difficult part is choosing WHAT to order because all of it is so dang good!!

Let’s start with the brunch bites- my good friend Kelsey of So Much Life Blog and I ordered the Danish Ebelskivers which are plump, round pancakes with an apple cinnamon filling. It’s served with fresh fruit and a nice helping of powdered sugar + maple syrup. It’s the perfect dish to share! Side note; as much as I love coffee, their agua fresca is phenomenal and I’d order that any day of the week!

An easy way to “test” a brunch spot is trying a classic pancake. The Funkadelic’s went above and beyond with all natural butter and pasture raised eggs from Vital Farms. Plus, it comes with fresh fruit, powdered sugar, maple syrup and home made jam!! There’s nothing plain about it.

Let’s talk about these pupusas. They’re stuffed with queso fresco and topped with a braised beef carne machada, pickled radishes, and beets. We ordered it with a side of their potato latke hash and it was the perfect savory dish! Seriously, I’ve been talking about it for over a week to everyone I see…

Last but DEFINITELY not least are these beautiful cinnamon churro waffles. Good gosh, they’re addictive. These crispy belgian waffles are showered with cinnamon and powdered sugar plus comes with your choice of side! We might have ordered the waffles with a side of pancakes. Judge us, go ahead. I’d do it again.
