Amalfi Coast Wine Dinner Pairing at Siena Ristorante

Published by Monique on

Siena Ristorante has been in Austin for almost 20 years and it was my first time visiting! I attended their Amalfi Coast wine and dinner pairing and it was absolutely phenomenal.

Apertivo: Scamorza in Carrozza – crisp crostini, smoked mozzarella, salami and pomodoro sauce (sort of like a grown up grilled cheese) paired with Mastroberardino Lacryma Christi DelVesuvio Rosso. Yes, it was as incredible as it looks!

Antipasto: Insalata Caprese – buffalo milk mozzarella, San Marzano tomatoes, fresh basil, sea salt, cracked black pepper and extra virgin olive oil paired with Cantina Del Taburno Falanghina. This wine was like nothing I’ve ever had – crisp and dry with notes of pear. I loved it! I’ve also never had fresh San Marzano tomatoes and they were a lovely treat!

Primo piatto: Scialatielli con Frutti di mare – handmade pasta, fresh clams, shrimp, scallops, colatura di alici, Italian parsley and pomodoro sauce paired with Villa Matilde Greco de Tufo. Beautiful, isn’t it? I’m a sucker for handmade pasta.

Secondi piatti: Bisteca alla pizzaiola – wood grilled wagyu sirloin, charred tomato/red chili/oregano, roasted potato/zucchini/onion tortino paired with Villa Matilda Taurasi. That wagyu melted in my mouth and the array of veggies was a great contrast.

Dolce: delizia di limone – Limoncello spiked sponge cake, lemon pastry cream, almonds, amarena cherries paired with limoncello fatta in casa. I was stuffed by this point but managed to take a small bite of the cake – so fluffy, creamy and tasty!

Siena is part of Austin Restaurant Weeks and they’re serving two incredible prix fixe menus – a $25 lunch option and $35 dinner options! It’s running until September 3rd so make sure you stop by!
